Barre

Íris is a certified barre instructor, and has been teaching both freelance and at various locations since 2020.

Barre is a versatile strength training method, which emphasises increased muscular strength, flexibility, correct alignment and posture, coordination, and developing more efficient movement patterns. It has roots in both the classical ballet technique as well as the Lotte Berk method, so there is and incorporation of dynamic movements, balances and stability exercises, resistance training, and exercises that involve isometric muscle activation.

Íris 'fell in love' with this training method while studying at Rambert School, as she found it truly complemented her dance training. Having done ballet from a young age, Íris really enjoys being able to share the fundamentals of the technique, along with its element of strength and elongation through the body, and making it accessible to everyone; dancers or non-dancers. Íris places great emphasis on celebrating each individual in her classes, and is always prepared with modifications and progressions that will meet the challenges and requirements of each person.

You will always be offered new routines and variations in each class, and you will leave feeling accomplished and with a sense of having worked hard!

Íris has taught at Barreworks in London, Richmond Barre, RESET Manchester, GSquared, Kramhúsið, Tilveran, Yogalíf, and for private retreats
